Biography of President

Sir Gary led the winning bid to bring the Grand Depart of the Tour de France - the world's largest sporting event to Yorkshire in 2014 and was instrumental in the entire process form start to finish. 

In September 2016, Sir Gary spearheaded Welcome to Yorkshire's successful bid to bring the UCI Road World Championship to Yorkshire in 2019 in partnership with the UK Government, UK Sport and British Cycling.

Since his appointment as Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire in October 2018 he has successfully raised the profile of Yorkshire at a regional, national and international level.

His love of sport extends into his work, he is President of the world's oldest cricket festival as Scarborough and also on the Board of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

A passionate Yorkshireman, in his spare time Sir Gary is also an award winning Dales sheep farmer and lives on a working farm near Leyburn.

Biography of Patron

Lord Crathorne KCVO is Patron of the Stokesley Show as well as a former President.  His grandfather, father, mother, brother have all been Presidents of the Show during the course of the last 100 years.

This year Lord Crathorne is Mayor of the Staple, a livery company whose interest is sheep and woollen products.  He was President of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society between 2014 and 2015.  He was Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire for fifteen and a half years retiring in 2014.
